Rules
tilewars sells advertising space: 150 slots on one shared page, each showing a logo, a name and a link to the advertiser's own site. You pick a budget, we review the submission, and the size of your rectangle is your share of what every advertiser has paid. It gets smaller as others buy, and when the page is full a new advertiser can take the smallest slot. That is how the pricing works, and it is written here so nobody is surprised by it.
How size works
- The board holds exactly 150 tiles. There is no page two.
- Your area is your share of what everyone has paid, so every payment anyone makes shrinks your tile. Paying again is how you take it back.
- Money buys less area the more of it you spend: area scales with
amount0.6, so 100× the money buys roughly 16× the area. - No single tile may exceed 20% of the board. Anything above that is redistributed to everyone else.
- Payments accumulate into one running total for your slot. Totals are never reset.
- What your tile shows — logo, name, tagline — depends on how big it is, not on what you paid. As it shrinks the tagline goes first, then the name, until only the logo is left. The logo scales with the tile, so on a large one it is most of what people see.
- Upload an image or give us a link to one — SVG, PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF. An SVG is rendered to a picture on arrival, so nothing from it ever runs in anyone's browser. Either way we host our own copy; nothing is hotlinked from your site, and swapping the file at your end changes nothing here.
- You pick your tile's colour. Anything too close to the page background is refused — your tile has to be visible. Leave it blank and we choose one for you.
- The border shows how recently a tile was paid for: a bright ring the day someone pays, fading to a hairline over about a week.
- Your logo sits directly on your colour, trimmed of any transparent margin and fitted to a square you can zoom and nudge. If it needs a light card behind it, tick the box — the preview shows you either way before you pay.
- Empty slots are drawn as dashed squares. They are not tiles and they never take area from anyone who has paid — paid tiles are always sized against each other.
When the board is full
- To get on, your total must be more than the smallest tile currently on the board. Matching it is not enough — you have to beat it.
- When you do, that smallest tile is pushed off. Its owner is emailed immediately, with a one-click link to come back.
- An evicted total stays on file. Paying the difference puts you straight back on, without another review.
- Topping up an existing tile never pushes anyone off — it only grows your own. So the price of entry rises on its own as people top up.
- If the board fills while your submission is still in review, and your payment no longer beats the smallest tile, you are not put on and not left guessing: we email you to either top up the difference or take a full refund.
- 150 of 150 slots are open right now, so entry is €5 and nobody gets pushed off.
- Being outgrown or pushed off is not grounds for a refund. It is what you paid into.
What gets rejected
Every paid submission is looked at by a human before it appears. We reject:
- Malware, phishing, credential harvesting, fake download buttons.
- Unlicensed pharmaceuticals and supplements making medical claims.
- Token pumps, presales, “guaranteed returns”, signal groups, and anything else whose pitch is that you'll get rich.
- Adult content, gambling, and anything illegal in the EU or the US.
- Impersonating another company, or using a logo you don't have the rights to.
- Hate symbols and slurs, in a name, a tagline or an image. No warning for this one.
- Cloaking: a link that shows reviewers one thing and visitors another. Permanent.
Payments and refunds
- Minimum entry is €5. Payment is by card, through Stripe; we never see your card details.
- Rejected at review because we made a judgement call: full refund, no argument.
- Removed for one of the violations above: no refund.
- Changed your mind before your tile goes live: full refund, just email contact@tilewars.lol.
- Once your tile has been live, the area has been rendered and shared, and payments for it are not refundable — except where the law gives you a right of withdrawal, which stands and which we will honour.
- We can remove any tile at any time. If we do it for a reason that isn't yours, you get a pro-rata refund.
Links
Every outbound link carries rel="nofollow sponsored". A tile buys
attention, not PageRank. Don't ask.
Data
We store your email to send your receipt and to warn you if you are about to lose your slot. Reply to any of those — or write to contact@tilewars.lol — to stop them, or to have your slot and your data deleted.
Reaching a human
contact@tilewars.lol. Refunds, removals, a tile that is not what it claimed to be, or anything else. Report a bad link and we will look at it the same day.
Clicks on your tile are counted in aggregate, deduplicated by a one-way hash of address and browser that is discarded after 48 hours. We keep no profile of the people clicking and set no cookies for it.
Page views are measured with Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not track visitors across sites. No advertising or third-party tracking scripts run here.
